You started your blog, set up a nice theme and all that’s left to do is to start writing your very first few posts. So you sit down with a cup of coffee and plan on writing one out right now!

Do I even have anything interesting to say?
Trust me, I have been there. Not too long ago. After I set up my hosting and blog theme I was facing the same situation.
They say just start writing.. but what the heck about!?
Fear not! I am here to help you out of that rut.
I read from many blogs to write your first post an introductory one but let’s be honest, people do not know you. People will not click on your Pins to learn more about you if they don’t even know who you are. I think introductions are great but keep them on your About Me page of your site.
Your first posts should be something to attract traffic from day 1.

How many Blog posts should you have published before you start promoting your blog?
In my personal experience as a blog reader, I have seen brand new blogs with just 1 post actively promoting themselves on Pinterest. While this may be a good post and I am sure they are gaining some traffic but it won’t be a good experience for the reader to land on a site with just 1 or 2 posts. I would wait until at least 4 useful Blog posts before you start promoting your blog on Pinterest and other social media.
With at least 4 posts published, you can entice the reader to stay on your site longer or even sign up for your newsletter. You are showing them that you are serious about this and plan on staying in this game long term.
The best types of posts for your brand new blog
1.A How-To Post
A post about how you overcame a problem or learned something new. Or how your audience can learn something new.
Think about your target audience and what kind of problems or issues they might have or what new they would like to learn. Then write about your own experience with that issue. You can offer them advice because you have experience in that field.
Or if you have no real experience, you can also just do a lot of research and find out everything you need about a certain subject then pass it onto your readers. People love How To posts because they offer a lot of value to the reader.

How I lost Weight and Managed to Keep It Off
How to Get Your Kids to Do Their Chores
2.A List Post
These are some of my most popular posts as people love to scroll through them and learn a lot of new information in only a short amount of time. By compiling a list post you are doing all the hard work for your readers. You do the research, find relevant images and product or tips to add.
This saves your audience quite a bit of time by having everything they are looking for in one handy blog post.

7 Simple Ways to Live a Less Stressful Life
18 of My Favorite Lifestyle Bloggers
23 Dessert Recipes for Valentine’s Day
3.A review post
Do you have a favorite shampoo that makes your hair ah-maz-ingly soft? Did you watch a movie that you feel is underrated but deserves a damn Oscar in your opinion? Have you found an app that saves you a ton of $$ shopping?
Write about it!
Let other people know if you love a certain product or service.
People love reading review posts because it can benefit them in a big way and there is nothing better than learning about a product from an actual person just like them!
Bonus, if your product is not a very popular one and not widely talked about you can rank high on Google incredibly quickly. Given you use the right tactics for improving your SEO on that post. (I will write a post about that shortly!)

4.An Interview post
Is there a blogger who inspired you to get started? Or even a couple of bloggers who you have been following and would like to know more about?
Talk to the industry leaders in your field and ask them the questions you think your audience your like to know answers to.
Chances are those people would be more than happy to be interviewed, just contact them by email.
You have better chances landing an interview with a medium- to a small-time blogger than someone extremely successful and famous. I personally prefer to read interviews from bloggers who aren’t extremely well known yet as they are rarer and offer much more insight.
Just make sure you always link back to their blog and other social media channels!

In conclusion
These 4 broad ideas of types of blog posts should help you get some ideas going in your head. Remember you only need about 4 posts to start promoting and monetizing your blog. Aim for writing one post a day for 4 days in a row and you will have them written in no time!
After the first 4, you can make a goal of writing 1 very good post a week. You will have your blog filled with useful content in no time!

I still remember the day that I went live on my blog. I started with only one blog post after all most of us do.
I started promoting my blog right away, but I really didn’t know what I was doing and I wasn’t getting any traffic.
It takes time to learn how to drive traffic. I didn’t get started with Pinterest the day I went live on my blog because I knew nothing about it.
You’re right, it’s okay to go live on your blog with just one post. Just make sure that you are writing content faster in the beginning until you have at least 5-10 posts.
This gives your visitors more content to see on your blog. No one wants to visit a blog and read an amazing post but then can’t find anything else.
