Hello and happy beginning of Spring to all you lovely people!
March is my favorite month of the year as it is my birthday month woo! This year was even more exciting as I just started this blog and basically, all my birthday gifts were blogging related which was amazing.
Let’s take it back a month though and look back to February which was my very first full month of blogging.
I managed to achieve 15204 page views in my first month!
That was insane to me as I predicted to reach about 1000 so when I surpassed that in my first couple of days I could not even believe it!
So how did I reach that many page views in my very first month?
Let me break it down for you!!
Okay I know, everyone knows Pinterest is gold for blog promotion.
But I don’t care how many times it has been said, Pinterest is a MUST for all bloggers.
about 85% of my traffic comes from Pinterest! (the rest make up of 10% direct traffic, about 4.5% Stumbleupon and Facebook and 0.5% organic search)
It is incredibly hard to get a high number of page views from organic search as a new blogger as Google doesn’t really rank new blogs.
What helped most was Manual Pinning on Pinterest.
Don’t get me wrong I still use my Tailwind account and swear by it on days when I simply don’t have the time for manual pinning (which is almost every day since I work at my job so much). If you want to try out Tailwind and get a free month click here!
Manual pinning is completely different from using Tailwind or any scheduler for that matter. You actually have to put in serious time and a bit of effort into this. It is so worth it in the end though as it can really explode your traffic!
This ebook by Carly from Mommy on Purpose has been a game changer for me. She developed a way of using Pinterest that took her from 0 to 200k monthly page views in just a few months. She shares all her techniques in this super thorough ebook.
Creating Multiple Pins for Every Blog Post
Because my blog is so new and only had about 20 posts I had to get creative in sharing the posts. I created multiple slightly different graphics for all of my popular posts and Pinned them to Pinterest.
There were a couple of graphics I created that I thought looked absolutely hideous and I wasn’t going to even post them. I am glad I did though!
One of those hideous Pins brought me over 700 page views!
I really recommend to try out different styles of pins when you are first starting out.
You never know what might work for your audience!
Joining Pinterest Group Boards
I think I went a bit crazy with this one as I joined over 15 group boards in just February alone!
ps. I would love it if you joined my group board for new bloggers
or if you are a DIY/Home Decor blogger my DIY group board
Since then I have left a few of these because my Pins weren’t really performing at all on these boards.
I’ve read that being a part of group boards with very low engagement looks bad to Pinterest algorithms.
It is definitely worth it to join as many Group Boards as possible when only starting out though as you never know which boards work out the best for you.
I recommend giving each board a couple of months and then checking the engagement of the board and making your decision then.
To my surprise, some of the best performing boards for me are group boards with very low amount of followers! There’s a Group Board I am in which only has about 300 followers and it is the number one in repins and engagement for my pins!

It is very important to write Evergreen content that is relevant and popular regardless of the time of the year but I find my most popular posts so far have been Holiday posts.
Seasonal posts are a great way to bring people to your brand new blog.
Just make sure you publish the post ideally about 6 weeks before the holiday so it has time to gain some traffic and rankings on Pinterest.
My best performing posts in February were:
21 Valentine’s Day Gifts Under $40
12 DIY Valentines Day Gifts That Don’t Look DIY
Linking to Similar Posts
This one is so easy to overlook as a new blogger.
What I do is add links to similar posts at the end of every blog posts. This helps readers stay on my blog longer and visit more posts.
You can also use plugins like Related Posts for WordPress but I prefer to manually add the links so I have more control over which posts exactly show up as related.
These 5 ways were the main factor in me reaching 15 204 page views in my very first month blogging.
I hope these tips helped you and will help you reach a ton of page views too!!
If you have any more questions don’t be afraid to ask me either in the comments or by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Have a great day babe!
